Organic waste collection

 Global worming services

Since 2004, Global worming has provided organic waste bins to clients for the collection of organic waste such as food scraps, coffee grinds, tea bags, bread and paper towels. This waste is subsequently fed to worms and recycled into an organic fertiliser—a process which is called vermicomposting.

Global worming has provided a consistently high quality service to over 30 clients which has been flexible and responsive to changes in the size, and waste management practices of an organisation.

Accurate statistics on the organic waste collection are maintained from the commencement of organic waste collection services and Global worming is the only known waste company that weighs every collection and collates data on the weight and volume of every collection for all of its clients.

Bins for office kitchens

Pedal operated collection bins for organic waste are made available in kitchens and colourfully labelled with instructions on what is suitable for worms.

Bins are emptied and sterilized at least twice per week. Each time the bins are emptied, they are lined with newspaper which absorbs the excess moisture from the organic waste. Records are kept on the weight and volume of waste that is collected every week.

All collection bins are regularly maintained and replaced when broken at no additional cost to the client.

Wheelie bins for offices and commercial kitchens

Wheelie bins are available for commercial kitchens and other businesses or offices that prefer a centralised collection. Clients are charged according to the size of the bins and the number of times it is collected during the week.

Wheelie bins are collected from a central pickup point (such as a laneway or loading dock) and replaced with an empty bin that is already clean and sterilised.

Establishment of large-scale worm farms

Options for the construction, set-up and management of large-scale worm farms are available using the Global worming modular system.

The Global worming organic waste management service includes the provision of bins, emptying and cleaning at least twice a week and regular reporting of organic waste statistics and progress.

In most office environments, pedal operated bins (12 litre, 20 litre, 30 litre and 50 litre) and/or wheelie bins (120 litre and 240 litre) are provided and maintained by Global worming. All global worming bins are colourfully labelled to educate people on use. Bins are collected regularly (usually Wednesdays and Fridays) and sterilised on a weekly basis.

Global worming is the only known waste management business that uses newspaper to line the indoor pedal bins that are provided to clients. This has significant savings for the environment reducing the number of plastic bags going to landfill while also minimisation the risk of odour as newspaper absorbs excess moisture from the organic collection.

Global worming provides and maintains all bins and quickly replaces any faulty bins. Bins are cleaned and sterilised regularly using a Eucalyptus spray. Additionally Global worming understands the need to be flexible and responsive to changes in an organisation.

Global worming understands the importance of a feedback loop to clients and is the only known waste business that weighs every collection and maintains accurate statistical records covering the weight and volume of waste that is collected every week for every client. Informative statistics, feedback and graphs on the organic waste collection are provided in quarterly reports.
